March 1, 1938 to July 10, 2019
Born in Kavala, Greece, Daniel emigrated to Toronto, Canada at age 17. He quickly learned to speak English, discovered that he loved watching hockey and playing cards, met his lifetime sweetheart, and tapped into his entrepreneurial spirit and tireless work ethic, becoming a successful businessman in a variety of roles and industries over the years. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Daniel volunteered in the community all his life and served as a congregation elder for over 50 years. His worship and helping others were his privilege and joy, as was being with his family, especially at the cottage where he could relax and unwind on the deck, lakeside or out in the boat enjoying fishing, his favourite pass-time.
Beloved by wife, Gail (nee Mather); daughter, Rhonda; son, Gregory, grandsons, Grant and Reid, and their mother, Angie; brothers, Gus (Dair) and Mike (Laura), late brother-in-law, Lloyd (Faith). He will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, Uncle Danny and friend to so many in Canada and Greece.
A memorial service for Daniel will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 77 Champagne Drive, (North York) Toronto, ON, M3J 2C6. For those who wish, as an option in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Canada supporting Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide work.
