ILA ALBERTA JAMIESON After 91 active years Ila peacefully left us
Saturday, June 8, 2019. Predeceased by her husband William Alexander
Her outlook was shaped by The Great Depression and Second World War.
Ila joined the war effort in her teens building motors at Clyde Aircraft in
Collingwood. She often recalled the excitement of being a new, young
hairdresser in Bala and the wonderful summer nights dancing to the Big
Bands at the Key to Bala in the 40’s. In the 50’s, her working career
continued at Canadian General Electric, Barrie until the birth of her
children. Later circumstances found her as department manager at
Woolworths where she served most of Barrie. She never forgot names,
their children and their stories; in fact she rarely forgot Anything. Head of
the book department nourished her love of books. By the end of her life
our public library was challenged to keep up with her book consumption.
Ila’s personal life was enriched by the birth of two sons, William LeRoy and
Brian John (deceased) as well as daughter JoAnne Knapp (Ralph). Ila will
be remembered with love by her sister Sharon Griffiths & her daughter-in-
law Sheree Baron.
Ila’s children blessed her further by adding grandchildren Warren, Todd,
William, John, Loretta, Sean and Alexandria to the family dinner gatherings.
Great & Great Great Grandchildren followed creating a family Grandma J
loved, fed and nurtured.
The Jamieson house provided a home away from home for so many.
