Obituary

Ileen Murray  -  Sept 10, 1930 to December 24, 2019
It was with great sadness that we said our final farewells to (Beth) Ileen Murray on December 24th 2019 at 7:30 PM.  Known to some family and friends as Eileen Hutchinson or Eileen Dixon.

Beloved Mother to Heather Lynn (Dixon) (Pepin) Kendry.  Mother in law to Douglas Alan Kendry.  Cherished grandmother to Andre Gaetan Pepin, Melanie Rachelle Williamson and Nathalie Elizabeth Pepin.  Especially loved by Melanie’s husband Ryan Williamson.  Adored Great Grandmother to Madeline Mae and Charlotte Belle Williamson and Colton Carver Pepin.  Ileen was predeceased by husbands Graham Lanning Dixon of Winnipeg Manitoba and Alan Sinclair Murray of Barrie. Mom will be reunited with her children Beverly and Peter Dixon. Daughter to Roy Albert Hutchinson and Violet Rebecca MacMaster.  Born in Allandale … never gave up that right to passage.  Once an Allandale Girl always an Allandale Girl!

Ileen was a vibrant, intelligent, Modern Woman.  Full of energy, opinions, compassion and just a great deal of common sense. In Her years as a journalist she was Woman's editor for The Barrie Examiner in the 60’s and early 70’s. She was well known in the area as she Skirted The Bay covering community events.  Ileen also completed her degree in Social work and worked for the CAS in Timmins and Barrie, ON.
Mom loved her Grandchildren and her Great Grandchildren and seeing them always brought her great joy.  Mom also had great affection for my husband Doug and Loved it when he sang to her during our visits.  Our son-in-law Ryan was also dear to my Mom and so gentle and loving towards her.
I appreciate each and every one of you and others who loved my Mom and will miss her...Please continue her legacy of story telling and share memories of this incredible woman who you have called Grandmother, great grandmother, mother in law, friend.  To me...My Mom...Love of My Life!
As a member of Trinity Anglican Church Mom took great comfort in her faith in times of trouble and although Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s took their toll when I whispered "The peace of Christ be with you" Mom always received that peace and tried to respond “And also with you”. Even on December 24th!
Mom’s last hours here were filled with stories about all of you, those she loved most.  I spoke each of your names over and over to her and reassured her that she could leave us all and that we would understand.  That our love would carry her into God’s arms.  Andre, Melanie, Nathalie, Madeline, Charlotte, Colton, Ryan and Doug she loved you and knew you loved her till the very last breath she breathed. Doug and I prayed, sang, read bible passages and talked about her life and how loved she was and always will be. That it was Jesus birthday! What a day to leave us Mom!  Couldn’t have been a better one!
Thank You to staff at Roberta Place Long Term Care on home area 4.  You adored my mother “Grannie” as you all affectionately called her. I know you will miss her and also grieve her loss. We were blessed to have you all come into Mom’s room to say your goodbyes.  We will miss you.  Some we did not have an opportunity to say goodbye to...you know who you are.

An interment service will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery in the spring.

This is the end of our Long Goodbye! Our final farewell.

Your mother is always with you…
She’s the whisper of the leaves
as you walk down the street.
She’s the smell of bleach in
your freshly laundered socks.
She’s the cool hand on your
brow when you’re not well.
Your mother lives inside
your laughter. She’s crystallized
in every tear drop…
She’s the place you came from,
your first home.. She’s the map you
follow with every step that you take.
She’s your first love and your first heart
break….and nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, Not space…
Not even death….
will ever separate you
from your mother….
You carry her inside of you….
